Introduction
We are proud to be recruiting on behalf of a leading South London creative studio that specialises in delivering high-impact experiential, retail, and spatial design projects. From luxury product launches and immersive pop-up environments to high-end fashion displays and permanent brand installations, their portfolio is diverse and widely respected.
They are now looking for a Middleweight Technical Designer to join their in-house team based in South London
This is a permanent, full-time role offering a fantastic opportunity to work on exciting and varied design briefs in a highly creative and fast-paced studio environment.
Role Overview
As a Middleweight Technical Designer, you’ll play a vital role within the studio’s Technical Team, bridging the gap between creative concepts and final build execution. Reporting to the Head of Technical Design and collaborating with a mix of permanent and freelance designers, production managers, and workshop leads, you\’ll produce high-quality technical drawings and construction packs.
This role demands strong technical expertise, adaptability, and a solutions-focused mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed construction drawings to support design development and on-site builds
- Collaborate with creative and production teams to ensure feasibility and alignment with timelines and budget
- Translate creative concepts into technically viable, buildable solutions
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously in a high-pressure environment
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and fabricators
- Support projects through from design sign-off to workshop delivery
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Technical Designer in experiential, events, retail, or set design
- Strong proficiency in Vectorworks 2D & 3D, or a similar CAD software
- Excellent understanding of materials, fabrication methods, and construction techniques
- Confident working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven studio environment
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in drawings
- Positive, hands-on attitude and a collaborative mindset=
- Valid driving licence would be beneficial but isn\’t essential
