Scenic Project Manager

Overview
We are working on behalf of a well-established and fast-growing events production agency to find an experienced and enthusiastic Scenic Project Manager to join their dynamic team.
This is a hands-on, onsite role ideal for a scenic designer, set builder, or project manager with experience delivering creative solutions in corporate live events. You’ll play a crucial part in transforming abstract client ideas into compelling, high-quality scenic experiences that elevate event production and branding.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal teams and clients to develop scenic design concepts that reflect brand identity and event objectives
- Oversee end-to-end scenic project delivery – from concept through to final installation
- Liaise with technical departments (e.g., lighting, AV) to ensure full event integration
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and documentation to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery
- Work closely with the in-house workshop to ensure design feasibility and quality control
- Attend client meetings, site visits, and be present at installations both in the UK and occasionally abroad
- Maintain and grow key client relationships
- Book and coordinate scenic crew for builds and installations
- Stay informed on scenic trends, materials, technologies, and sustainable practices
- Ensure all scenic elements comply with safety and industry regulations
- Actively contribute to business development within the scenic department
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of experience in scenic design and/or project management for live events
- Strong portfolio demonstrating scenic design and technical execution
- Strong understanding of scenic construction methods, materials, and design feasibility
- Able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Excellent communication, client-facing, and presentation skills
- Strong attention to detail with a high standard of finish and professionalism
- Ability to interpret abstract concepts into practical scenic solutions
- Commercially aware and customer-focused with a creative problem-solving mindset
- Full UK Driving License and access to own transport
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings/weekends as required
Desirable (not essential):
- Degree in Scenic Design, Theatre Arts, Architecture or similar
- Proficiency in SketchUp, Vectorworks, Adobe Creative Suite (or similar)
- Experience in projection mapping or interactive technologies
- Understanding of lighting and its relationship to scenic design
