I’m working with a leading multidisciplinary practice who are looking to bring in an experienced CDM / Principal Designer Consultant to support a growing pipeline of projects. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with designers, project teams and clients to make sure health & safety duties are fully coordinated from concept through to handover.

The Role

You’ll be the key point of contact for all things CDM, supporting design and construction teams to make sure statutory duties are met and risk is managed properly across every project. Day to day, you’ll be involved in:

Advising clients on their duties and ensuring they understand their responsibilities.
Acting as the main contact for Principal Designer duties, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry best practice.
Working with designers to compile and maintain Design Risk Management schedules.
Pulling together pre‑construction information and identifying any gaps that need resolving.
Carrying out H&S‑focused design reviews throughout both design and construction stages.
Coordinating clear communication between all project duty holders.
Preparing and issuing the project‑specific Health & Safety File at completion.
Providing specialist CDM advice to internal designers and project managers.

What You’ll Need

Professional background in Health & Safety (APS / IOSH membership is ideal).
Degree (or equivalent) in a construction‑related field with a minimum of 3 years’ post‑qualification experience.
Strong knowledge of CDM2015, L144 and wider industry guidance.
Experience in Design Risk Management.
A background in construction projects and ideally within a consultancy environment.
Experience working on multi‑discipline projects.
Good understanding of wider construction‑related H&S regulations.
Confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
Solid understanding of typical construction methods.
Strong self‑management and organisational skills.
