Muskingum University invites applications for a Director of Clinical Mental Health Counseling. This is an inaugural position that will lead the development of a fully online master’s degree program, which will be delivered in a virtual, cohort model that combines synchronous and asynchronous modalities. The Director will lead all aspects of the program, including curriculum design, staffing, accreditation, and administration and will have teaching responsibilities.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide academic leadership and strategic direction for the Counselor Education program.
- Lead Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) accreditation efforts and ensure ongoing compliance with accreditation and licensure standards.
- Recruit, hire, and evaluate program faculty and instructors.
- Oversee curriculum development, assessment, scheduling, and faculty assignments.
- Manage the program’s independent budget and operational planning.
- Drive enrollment growth and align faculty and field capacity with program scale.
- Foster an inclusive, engaging online learning environment.
- Teach courses and supervise practicum/internship experiences as needed.
- Collaborate with university leadership and academic units to ensure program integration and quality.
- Lead student recruitment, admissions, advising, and licensure preparation.
- Support faculty development and contribute to the counseling profession.
- Build and maintain partnerships for clinical and practicum placements.
- Conduct ongoing program evaluation and continuous improvement.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program.
- Licensure, or eligibility for licensure, as a clinical mental health counselor in Ohio.
- Demonstrated record of teaching excellence in counselor education, preferably in online environments.
- Experience with CACREP accreditation processes, standards, and reporting.
- Minimum of two years of experience as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program.
- Evidence of leadership experience and strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a remote/online environment while fostering a strong sense of community among students and faculty.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
- Experience in launching or leading new academic programs.
- Knowledge of Ohio counselor licensure requirements and national counseling trends.
- Experience building partnerships with clinical field sites.
- Familiarity with virtual learning platforms and online pedagogy best practices.
