A little about us
Music Squad is on a mission to help children feel really GOOD about themselves through music.
Since launching in 2021, we've grown from a small local business into an award-winning music education company with a fast-growing national franchise network. We bring inclusive piano, guitar and drum lessons and after-school music clubs into primary schools, but fun!
We're serious about music education, but we don't believe it needs to be stuffy. We're ambitious, energetic, a little bit silly and still have that flexible, entrepreneurial start-up spirit.
We've just turned five, and we're entering an exciting new phase of growth!
The Opportunity
We're looking for someone to help sustain and grow Music Squad Cheshire, the original and biggest branch of the Music Squad franchise network.
This is a varied, hands-on role, where ideas are welcomed, initiative is encouraged and you can genuinely make your mark. You'll love the satisfaction of turning a cold introduction into a new school partnership, filling an underperforming club or seeing pupil numbers grow because of something you've made happen.
You’ll join an established business with excellent systems, resources and a supportive management team already in place. We just need someone with the confidence, initiative and determination to turn opportunities into results.
Your goal? Protect what we've built, help us grow and give even more children the chance to feel really GOOD about themselves through music.
What you'll be doing
- Growing existing provision: Use enrolment data, waiting lists and school relationships to maintain pupil numbers, proactively identify opportunities for expansion and improve underperforming provision.
- Winning new schools: Plan and deliver proactive outreach campaigns to prospective schools, using Music Squad's existing marketing materials. Build relationships with headteachers, follow up consistently and turn interest into new school partnerships.
- Inspiring children: Delivering exciting musical assemblies, workshops and taster sessions in primary schools.
- Launching new provision: Drive and implement the launch of new lessons, clubs and instruments into schools, using our existing marketing resources and systems.
- Finding brilliant people: Sourcing and interviewing potential new Squad Leaders, working with our management team to get them started.
- Making things happen: Taking ownership of agreed targets, following through on opportunities and measuring results.
You’ll work closely with our Operations Manager and Teaching & Team Lead, who look after the day-to-day administration and ongoing teaching quality.
Is this you?
We're looking for someone who combines commercial drive, musical confidence and an exceptional ability to connect with people.
You’ll need to be:
- Proactive and self-motivated: You spot what needs doing and get on with it, without needing constant direction.
- Confident and persuasive: You can build relationships, inspire people, handle objections and communicate brilliantly.
- Results-driven: You enjoy setting goals, overcoming challenges and seeing the impact of your work.
- Commercially minded: You're comfortable interpreting data, recognising opportunities and making sensible business decisions.
- Musically confident: You're comfortable demonstrating musical activities and engaging groups of children, ideally using piano or keyboard.
- Organised and dependable: You can manage your own workload, keep things moving and follow through on commitments.
You don't need to have worked in business development before, but you should be able to demonstrate how you’ve used your initiative, communication skills and commercial judgement to achieve results.
Experience in sales, business development, education or children's activities is an advantage, but we’re particularly interested in people who can demonstrate initiative, commercial awareness and a track record of achieving results.
You’ll also need a full UK driving licence, access to suitable transport and a commitment to safeguarding children.
Applications close: Sunday 15 November 2026
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an informal introductory conversation, followed by an interview and practical activity. Interviews will take place throughout November and early December. We may contact suitable candidates before the closing date.
Appointment will be subject to appropriate safeguarding and enhanced DBS checks.
If you're commercially driven, musically confident and love making things happen, we'd love to hear from you.
