The Gregynog Young Musician Competition is an esteemed annual event that began in 2005.

It is open to entrants who are 18 years old or younger and have achieved at least Grade 8 or an equivalent level on any orchestral, brass band, or percussion instrument.

Participants must reside or study in the United Kingdom.

Up to 18 contestants will be selected to compete in the semi-finals, which will occur on October 31, 2026, at the Maidment Building, Shrewsbury School.

A panel of expert adjudicators will evaluate the performances throughout the day.

From the semi-finals, five winners will advance to the finals, where they will compete for the title of Gregynog Young Musician of the Year.

The overall winner will receive a cash prize of £3000, while each finalist will be awarded £500.

This competition not only provides a platform for young musicians to showcase their talents but also offers significant financial rewards for the top performers.
