The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:
ResponsibilitiesScope of Responsibilities: The Service Music Director contractor for the RAF Mildenhall Protestant Parish shall provide musical accompaniment prior to, during, and after the Contemporary Service. The Service Music Director contractor shall work in unison with the RAF Mildenhall Protestant Musician and the Chaplain in charge of the service to provide music for Worship Services, rehearsals, and special services. The contractor shall provide an atmosphere of religious sensitivity to all Air Force personnel participating in chapel programs. However, no form of coercion shall be employed by the contractor or their employees to cause USAF personnel or their family members to conform to a particular religious denomination or faith group either directly or indirectly. The contractor shall ensure that all key leaders and volunteers comply with this no-coercion policy. Respect for other religious faith groups shall be maintained.
Education and Experience Requirements- Demonstrate the following via a resume of education/experience: two (2) professional letters of reference and a Technical Evaluation.
- For the Technical Evaluation, we will require either in person or via video call an interview with the Wing Chaplain or his designee. This interview will consist of questions to confirm the applicant’s proficiency and understanding of contemporary worship and their ability to direct, lead, and cultivate a worshipful environment for a contemporary service with volunteers from diverse denominations and backgrounds.
- Two (2) professional letters of reference from former employer(s) and/or leader of churches/chapels in which work has been performed with contact details.
- Have two (2) years experience as part of a Church or Chapel praise and worship team.
- Shall be willing to work with chapel staff personnel and program volunteers of all religious backgrounds and faith beliefs.
- Shall possess a knowledge of Protestant teachings, customs, and traditions.
- Shall be conversant with current contemporary praise and worship songs defined as the Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) Song Select Top 100 songs.
- Shall be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Shall have access to the internet and a computer. The contractor will not be provided with access to government computers.
- Shall be able to use related computer software applications including Microsoft PowerPoint and Internet Explorer.
- Shall be required to satisfactorily complete a background check IAW DoDI 1402.5 Criminal Background History Check.
- Meet weekly with the chaplain responsible for the service and/or musician over service to plan, order, and coordinate music for worship services.
- Lead worship (or provide coverage) as praise team/choir director.
- Develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate the music program for the service.
- Collaborate with volunteer musicians/vocalists creating a united music program to deliver a professional worship experience.
- Actively recruit praise team members to include sound system operators. In coordination with the Protestant chaplain in charge of the Contemporary Service, ensure all praise team members receive proper training on chapel equipment.
- Arrive at least 45 minutes prior to the start of each service to oversee setup and depart after all service clean-up has been accomplished.
- Perform one (1) rehearsal per week and as needed for special worship services.
- Rehearsals will be held at the RAF Mildenhall Chapel.
- The length of rehearsals shall be a minimum of one (1) hour and not to exceed three (3) hours.
- All dates and times for rehearsals shall be coordinated with the chaplain assigned to the service and the Facility Scheduler, including special and holiday event services.
- Coordinate with the chapel official for acquiring new music equipment, repairs/servicing, and other supplies. Submit requests for music supplies (i.e. scores, song sheets, folders, etc.) in writing.
