Tower Hamlets Arts and Music Education Service (THAMES) is seeking a Projects Manager (0.5, Fixed Term, 12 Months) to lead a diverse portfolio of arts programmes across the borough.

This person will work in collaboration with cultural partners to support the development of arts education in schools. Key partners include Half Moon Theatre, Rich Mix, Whitechapel Gallery, Green Candle Dance, Akram Khan Company, Auto Italia Gallery and Young V&A among others.

Tower Hamlets Arts and Music Education Service (THAMES) is a lead partner in the Music Hub for London East (East London Music Alliance), working with schools and cultural organisations to provide music and arts opportunities for all children and young people who live or go to school in Tower Hamlets.

This role would suit an experienced project manager with a strong track record of delivering complex arts or music projects, engaging young people and building effective partnerships across schools and cultural organisations. You’ll have an in‑depth knowledge of music and arts education, confident planning and evaluation skills and experience working within diverse communities. With the ability to inspire confidence and navigate the wider education landscape, you’ll combine excellent communication skills with the initiative to drive high‑quality, inclusive and impactful programmes.

Working closely with the THAMES Projects Manager (Music Education), you will provide strategic leadership and oversight for a diverse portfolio of projects and programmes across the borough. This includes managing complex partnerships and developing innovative initiatives that respond to local needs and priorities. You will also manage day‑to‑day project management including developing project plans, managing budgets and delivery of workshops and events. In addition, you will manage the THAMES Arts Education Fund and oversee evaluation and monitoring.

This is a 0.5 (17.5 hours per week) post for 12 months fixed term. There may be potential to extend beyond the initial fixed term period. Working hours/days will be negotiated with the successful candidate. This role will occasionally require flexibility in working hours/days according to the programme of activity. This is a hybrid role with a mix of office, home and community based work.
