Piano & Violin Tutors and Whole Class General Musicianship/Guitar Tutors
We are seeking enthusiastic and engaging practitioners to join our team of peripatetic instrumental tutors. Responsibilities include delivering outstanding 1-1 piano and violin lessons, as well as whole class general musicianship and guitar lessons at our Music Centres and schools across Merton.
Once appointed, tutors will receive offers of work based on demand and availability.
Specific opportunities include:
- Teaching 1-1 piano lessons with a jazz specialization at our South Wimbledon Music Centre on Wednesday evenings, between 4-9pm. There may be an opportunity to co-lead the ‘JazzWorks’ ensemble, focusing on improvisation and spontaneous music-making at approximately Grade 4–7 level.
- Teaching 1-1 piano lessons at a primary school in SW19 on Fridays and in CR4 on Monday mornings.
- Teaching 1-1 piano lessons for half a day at a secondary school in SW19, with flexible scheduling.
- Teaching piano at our Soundwave Music Centre in Mitcham on Thursday evenings for 2-3 hours starting at 4pm.
- Teaching violin 1-1 lessons and after-school violin club at a primary school in SE19 on Tuesdays.
- Teaching whole class general musicianship at a primary school in Mitcham, with a schedule rotating bi-weekly on Mondays and Thursdays, with potential for additional instrumental lessons like ukulele.
- Teaching whole class guitar to upper key stage 2 students at a school in Wimbledon for 2 hours on Monday or Wednesday during the Autumn and Spring terms.
- Teaching general musicianship at a primary school in Morden, with flexible days and hours, likely on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
Compensation rates are as follows:
- £34.50 per hour for piano and violin lessons.
- £42.40 per hour for whole class general musicianship and guitar lessons, plus a 17.5% holiday pay uplift.
