We are looking for an enthusiastic and inspiring musical director for the Bradford Youth Orchestra.

Location: Shipley

Contract Type: Self-Employed

Job Introduction: Bradford Music past events have involved a Soul Band and a Rapper and working with a TV production company for a documentary. The orchestra hold bi-annual residential weekends, tour abroad bi-annually and participate in local, regional and national events. Membership of the group is from Grade 5, and they rehearse weekly in term time on Saturdays between 9am and 12 in Shipley, Bradford. Paid at £45 per hour. They play a mixture of styles from standard classical repertoire to film scores.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate must be open to new ideas, have creative ideas for the development of the orchestra, and must be willing to undertake all residential weekends and tours, and all events, arranged in discussions with the Assistant Head of the Music Service responsible for ensemble provision. The post starts on 5 September 2026. The successful candidate will undergo an enhanced DBS check and be expected to complete annual safeguarding and PREVENT training.
