Greenhead College is seeking to appoint an outstanding and inspirational Head of Department – Music to lead its thriving and successful Music Department.

Greenhead College is situated close to Huddersfield town centre, adjacent to Greenhead Park, with easy access to transport. Approximately 2,900 students attend the College across a range of subjects.
Role Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and ambitious teacher to lead a department comprising approximately 100 students studying A Level Music, A Level Music Technology and BTEC National Level 3 Music Performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead teaching, learning and assessment of A Level Music and BTEC Music Performance.
- Shape the strategic direction of the department and contribute to the College’s enrichment programme.
- Develop and manage a vibrant programme of ensembles, concerts and performance opportunities.
- Line-manage the Head of Subject – Music Technology and the Music Technician.
- Support students both academically and creatively, fostering a lifelong appreciation of music.
Qualifications
- Degree in Music or a related discipline and a recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience as an excellent classroom practitioner with the ability to inspire and motivate students aged 16–19.
- Leadership skills, vision and ambition to develop a successful department.
- Commitment to enrichment, performance opportunities and the wider student experience.
- Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, wellbeing and educational excellence.
