The successful candidate must be flexible to work days and weekends. This type of role will have an agreed shift pattern set within the store opening hours. Shortlisted candidates will have the opportunity to discuss working hours and shift patterns in further detail at the interview. Candidates must be able to travel to the store via car, public transport or other to fulfil shift requirements.

The Role:

  • To manage the daily running of the full deli operation including food to go, deli, hot food, and in‑store bakery.
  • To lead and inspire your team, as well as role‑modeling positive behaviours to maximise sales, all whilst delivering excellent service to your customers.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Prepare, cook, and serve hot and cold meals, maximising sales, and profit through an excellent customer experience.
  • Manage, co‑ordinate and ensure compliance of stock.
  • Seek out to understand and meet the needs of every customer, whilst engaging and inspiring your team to do the same.
  • Manage and maintain standards in line with HACCP, food safety and Natasha’s Law for your area’s, including completion of food safety paperwork and documentation.
  • Plan and organise weekly & quarterly stock takes and create and execute action plans on stock results accordingly.
  • Ensure stock loss is minimised for your areas by ensuring correct portion control, weighing, labelling, and pricing are adhered to, as well as wastage guidelines in place.
  • Deliver and maintain exceptionally high standards within your areas.
  • Manage a team of colleagues; including conducting return to work interviews, colleague investigations and compliance with the Company’s employment policies.
  • Manage and train colleagues in your team whilst being hands on, to ensure that the right people are in the right place, doing the right job to maximise customer satisfaction.
  • Actively supporting the management team in ongoing initiatives that involve the local community and charity partners.
  • Champion social media for your area to drive sales.
  • Awareness of local competitor activity, suggesting new and innovative ideas to stay ahead of the competition.
  • You may be required to cover store key holding, with appropriate training, as and when required as part of this role.

What we’re looking for:

  • At least 1 year’s recent experience in a busy fast‑food, café, deli, food‑to‑go or hot counter environment
  • GCSE Maths and English, Grade C or above (or equivalent) and/or further education in a related discipline e.g. NVQ in catering or higher
  • Have a good working knowledge of food safety practices i.e., HACCP, scores on the doors and Natasha’s Law.
  • Demonstrate communication & interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages

Desirable:

  • Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Experience of deli operations including bakery, delicatessen, provisions, and coffee.
