The Head of Finance MNI is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the financial strategy, planning, analysis and control for the MNI division. This position demands a dynamic individual who can lead a team, provide strategic financial insights, foster transformation, and support the overall business objectives through meticulous financial planning, analysis and control. This role will involve a combination of onsite and remote work and will report to the Head of Finance Wholesale & Foodservice. This role will join the MNI Management Team supporting the Managing Director and will be responsible for a team of circa 49 colleagues.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Provide financial guidance, analysis, and support to the MNI Management team acting as a trusted advisor, supporting achievement of the business objectives in line with our Guiding Principles and Company Values.
  • Influence the strategic agenda for the business by providing value add insight and analysis.
  • Active participation in Leadership, Steering and Board meetings giving clarity on the financial and commercial performance of MNI.
  • Possess a detailed knowledge of the markets our Brands operate in and provide key insight on movements within those markets to assist with decision making.
  • Support the development and execution of the business strategy and annual business plan while also being a significant contributor on the commercial and operational focus of the business bringing challenge to business plans and initiatives outside of the finance remit.
  • Lead the MNI business in the completion of the Budget, Forecast and 3 Year Plans.
  • Ensure the MNI weekly P&L is in line with Budget or variances are understood and communicated.
  • Ensure that key performance reporting is accessible, user focused, and action orientated.
  • Ensure MNI is complying with all Musgrave governance (Capex approval, budget etc.) and identifying and escalating risk when required.
  • Deliver insights in understanding key sales and margin trends - identify causes of issues and suggest remedies to same.
  • Contribute and/or lead the key business priorities/projects ensuring clear financial targets/measures are in place.
  • Manage relationships both internal and external including auditors; communicate and engage with all Finance and Non-Finance stakeholders to ensure sound financial control and support for Finance programmes.
  • Support the MD and management team on any ad-hoc projects that arise.
  • Manage and lead the MNI finance team to ensure that they are highly engaged and have the skill sets, resources and support needed to deliver in their role and achieve their objectives.
  • Ensure the MNI finance team operate in an agile manner to meet the changing needs of the business.
  • Member of the Retail Senior Finance leadership team with responsibility for management of talent planning, people development and succession planning for the Finance team.
  • Identify, mentor and coach Finance leaders of the future.
  • Ensure the finance teams leverage technological advancement to deliver efficiencies and enhanced accuracy.
  • Partner with the Data & Insights team to leverage data for strategic decision-making and transformation initiatives.
  • Lead and develop the MNI Finance team through effective performance management techniques to enable achievement of business and personal objectives.

The successful candidates will possess/be the following:

  • Professional Accountancy Qualification - ACA, CIMA, ACCA, etc.
  • Third level qualification specialising in Business/Finance desirable.
  • 5-7 years in a senior Financial Leadership role.
  • Ability to think strategically and provide insights that support long-term business objectives.
  • Experience in business wide strategic planning processes.
  • Proven transformational and continuous improvement capability.
  • Highly data rational with excellent technical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Must possess strong commercial acumen, be results focused, solutions oriented and a pragmatic problem solver.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, customer-oriented environment with a strong operational focus.
  • Competency in PC packages (MS Word, Excel, and Outlook) and financial modelling.
  • Solid understanding of financial principles, including financial modelling (e.g. Anaplan) and forecasting.
  • Experience in data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to develop strong relationships with all levels of management and staff.
