We have an opportunity for a Food Service Manager to join the team.

Role Purpose

Day to day management and continuous development of the foodservice department. This role is responsible for achieving target sales, margin, range compliance, wholesale excellence standards execution, compliance and replenishment. This role also has responsibility for the profitability of assigned customers in the respective region. Stock management (management of stock-takes), cycle counting and managing of on shelf availability through daily gap analysis.

Role Scope

Responsible for sales, margin, costs, range, execution, replenishment, picking and compliance within the foodservice department.

Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service & Sales
    • Work closely with wider Regional team to develop and implement the growth and profit strategy for the MarketPlace brand across collect, delivered and the online channel for the region.
    • Build strong influential relationships with customers to understand and meet their needs.
    • Consistently deliver excellent service to customers, focusing on maximising profitable sales to the customers and growing the customer’s loyalty to Musgrave.
    • Deliver all in profit target for assigned customers list.
  • Wholesale Excellence
    • Consistently achieve and improve all operational KPI’s (Store Costs, store standards, availability, wastage, labour, mystery shopper etc), achieve all H&S, HACCP and SOP audits.
    • Achieve full compliance on all Standard Operating procedures.
    • Lead all colleagues by demonstrating excellence in the consistent delivery of company standards.
    • Regularly monitor and evaluate performance and standards and take relevant and necessary actions to achieve results.
  • Financial
    • Ensure that all pricing decisions, which contribute to margin, are managed within policy and are accounted for.
    • Plan, agree and achieve, department budgetary performance targets i.e sales, margin, costs and profit.
    • Manage debtors within debtor policy guidelines and agreed credit terms.
    • Manage department resources to ensure maximum efficiencies and within labour budget.
    • Maximise branch cash contribution through effective management of stocks, capital expenditure and debtors.
  • People
    • Build and sustain a high performing engaged team by providing clear direction, stretch targets, regular reviews to manage all levels of performance (proactively manage under performance and recognise and encourage high performance).
    • Demonstrate the Musgrave leadership skills and values holding self and others accountable for meeting and exceeding objectives.
    • Maximise the potential of team members to encourage and sponsor talent to ensure succession within the branch and across the Group.
    • Ensure departments are appropriately resourced to achieve maximum efficiencies and productivity in most cost effective manner.
    • Ongoing training and development of all colleagues.
  • Health & Safety
    • Ensure total awareness of legislative requirements and company policy and procedure with regard to Health and Safety, Environmental Health and legal considerations of the food environment.
    • To make oneself aware of the total layout of the depot including fire / emergency exits.
    • To make oneself fully aware of the company handbook, policies and procedures and adhere to all rules at all times.
    • To ensure good housekeeping practices are used at all times.
    • Maintain all required records.

Experience, Skills and Education

  • 5 + years experience in a management position in a retail/wholesale business is essential.
  • Understands and is familiar with the foodservice market.
  • A proven track record of delivering commercial results in a fast moving business environment.
  • Strong experience of stock management (management of stock-takes), cycle counting and managing of on shelf availability through daily gap analysis.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Excellent business acumen and numerical ability with an understanding of commercial sensitivities.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to lead, direct, develop and manage a team.
