What you'll be Doing
- Deliver category sales, margin and profit to budgeted levels and beyond.
- Analyse weekly performance, report weekly versus budget and forecast and develop practical immediate plans to address shortfalls.
- Supplier management: Implement existing JBPs with key suppliers, negotiate cost of goods and manage cost increase proposals, implementation of any regulatory changes within the category.
- Optimise opportunity around digital for online retail and Food Service.
- Promotion planning: Develop appropriate promotional strategies to drive sales and profitability, review analysis of promotions with suppliers in order to ensure the strongest sales drivers are being proposed.
- Range and product strategy: Manage the successful implementation of new product ranges, assist the team in reordering of product ranges for all departments.
- Seasonal Management: Deliver sales and profit on key seasonal plans, review and act upon market trends and opportunities to develop ranges and competitive prices for each event.
- Sales and Operations Relationship: Support the business units through development of working relationship with the sales teams and the key customers (coach, mentor and motivate the appropriate teams on category changes).
- Price file administration: Ensure Right First Time on all admin/flyer sign off, ensure adherence to UTP legislation.
- Price positioning: Assess current pricing, margin performance, and ensure price position is market leading through better sourcing opportunities, maximise customer margins and competitive position within the market.
- People management: Build and sustain a high performing engaged team by providing clear direction, stretch targets and regular reviews.
- Supply chain: Ensure that cash and carry inbound service levels are on target, maintain an acceptable source of product supply to all customers.
What we're looking for
- Strong commercial acumen and interpersonal skills including strong influencing / negotiation skills.
- Proven track record and Min. 5 years experience within the FMCG Retail or Foodservice Trade working within a Trading/ Buying environment.
- Ability to prioritise workload and differentiate between urgent and important tasks and stay calm under pressure.
- Skills: PC literate in Microsoft applications including Power Point, Word, Excel.
- Excellent communication skills.
