Health & Safety Manager Permanent Location: Belfast

This role will primarily be responsible for the implementation, monitoring and review of the occupational health & safety management system across Musgrave Northern Ireland Company Owned stores, Market Place depots and office locations (Dargan, Market Place depots and Drinks Inc).

What you'll be doing:

  • Occupational Health & Safety Management: Manage and maintain the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) for MNI in line with current legislation. Ensure Occupational Health & Safety best practice is embedded across systems of work. Implement continuous improvement within Health & Safety to support the delivery of best shop in town approach for our retail stores.
  • Incident, Accident & Claims Support: Manage the accident and incident database; Support with insurance claims across Company Owned Retail Stores, Marketplace and office locations. Implement continuous improvement processes to mitigate claim risk. Compile Monthly KPI and claims reports.
  • Risk Assessment, Auditing & Compliance Monitoring: Inspect and audit sites across MNI for H&S compliance in line with the audit calendar. Ensure that KPIs, risk assessments and all required H&S records are completed. Work with sites to achieve leading and lagging safety performance indicator targets.
  • Operational Support & Implementation: Work with all sites to review and support with maintaining OHSMS. Support the Property Manager to ensure statutory testing, planned preventive maintenance and audits are completed, and corrective actions closed out. Conduct colleague risk assessments relating to fitness for work and appropriate health and safety at work, liaising with HR where applicable.
  • Training, Communication & Culture: Support the Learning and Development team with organising and facilitating Health & Safety related training.

Qualifications:

  • Health and Safety degree or NEBOSH H&S cert (minimum) or in the process of attaining.
  • Previous experience of working with a Health and Safety System to OHSAS 18001 standards or similar.
  • Excellent planning, organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Competent in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Visio.
  • Valid UK/NI Driving License.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Recognised training qualifications (e.g. Manual Handling Instructor, Manual Handling, Fire Safety, etc).
  • Member of Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.
  • Previous health & safety experience in a wholesale or retail environment.
