Role Purpose:

Musgrave Retail Partners NI Limited operates as a major grocery and convenience store wholesaler and franchiser in Northern Ireland as part of the broader Musgrave Group. We are currently recruiting for a Site Lead at our Dargan Site, to support and assist the Transport Line Manager in organising and managing the transport function.

Role Scope:

• Assist in the management of all drivers and vehicles
• Assist in the Health & Safety processes including all applicable legislative compliance
• Develop and maintain 'best in class' service standards throughout the regions customer base

What you'll be doing:

Area of Responsibility: Customer order distribution, cost management and route planning

Key Activities

• Support the Transport Line Manager (TLM) to organise, plan and manage the day-to-day transport operation.
• To maintain effective communication with all key stakeholders including, customers, managers, drivers, and all other relevant departments within Musgrave.
• Support TLM to ensure compliance with all statutory obligations for fleet management, maintenance and driver hours.
• Ensure effective and proper use of fleet equipment to minimise damage to company assets at all times.
• Support TLM to drive productivity and efficiency across all routes.
• Liaise with the sales team regarding new customer routes and/or deliveries.
• Support TLM and central Transport to maintain control over route planning and delivery scheduling to ensure prompt delivery to our customers
• Driver rostering
• Support TLM to ensure fuel efficiency through auditing and reporting.

Key Measures

• Transport KPI's
• Ongoing review of delivery routes taking into account changes in the number of customers.
• Manage, on an on-going basis, driver rosters and communicate in a timely manner.
• Ensure routes are operated efficiently with maximum truck utilisation.

Area of Responsibility: Manage and motivate the drivers to deliver best in class customer service

Key Activities

• Ensure drivers demonstrate the company values.
• Manage routes and drivers to ensure on-time delivery.
• Support the TLM to drive a 'first for service' culture throughout the transport team.

Key Measures

• Response to customer queries without delay.
• Communicate on a regular basis with all transport employees on customer, company and depot issues.

Area of Responsibility: Management of Staff

Key Activities

• Ensure drivers are trained to meet the needs of the business.
• Support TLM to ensure all standard human resource processes are implemented for transport team e.g. timekeeping, health & safety, holidays, accidents.

Key Measures

• Ensure legal compliance ref driver hours and vehicle maintenance.
• Monitor and manage driver holidays.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety policy and safe driving procedures.

Experience, education and Skills:

Essential Qualifications

• OLAT Certification
• Proficient in MS Office
• Knowledge of Transport Operations.
• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance requirements.
• Data input
• An understanding of financials
• Strong knowledge of foodservice and retail distribution
• Honesty, integrity and openness
• Strong problem-solving focus
• Excellent flexibility and adaptability in management style
• Knowledge of Paragon routing software
