This role requires excellent organisational and leadership abilities, as well as a deep understanding of transport operations, employment laws, and compliance requirements.
What you’ll be doing:
- Effectively manage the transport function and implementation of optimal transport solutions for Musgrave Wholesale Partners, including the delivered Food Service Operations, delivered Retail and Market Place local deliveries.
- Work collaboratively with the warehouse, wider supply chain functions, and across the organisation to manage the Transport function, ensuring depot targets are met while delivering the highest possible level of customer service within budgetary constraints.
- Manage site transport teams to ensure all key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) are consistently achieved or exceeded.
- Ensure full compliance with all statutory obligations, transport legislation, regulatory frameworks, and safety standards in fleet management, vehicle maintenance, and drivers’ hours.
- Monitor and review driver performance, delivering feedback and addressing performance or disciplinary matters in a fair, consistent, and process-driven manner, fully aligned with company performance and disciplinary policies.
- Actively engage and motivate drivers to maintain high working standards, identifying individual and team training needs to support ongoing development.
- Implement the divisional transport strategy that supports and aligns with the wider business objectives.
- Drive transport network transformation to improve efficiency, elevate service standards, and deliver cost savings.
- Lead, manage and motivate the transport team to deliver on the strategic and operational objectives.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, safety, and customer service.
- Own and manage the divisional transport budget, driving cost control, accurate forecasting, and financial performance.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders to support operational excellence.
- Provide escalation support for significant service issues and operational disruptions, driving swift resolution.
What we’re looking for:
- CPC Transport Qualification
- At least three years of managing and leading a professional result-focused team.
- Proven track record of delivering results in a fast-moving, high volume through-put FMCG commercial environment.
- Experience in the logistics sector which has national multiple deliveries weekly.
- Strong leadership skills with a track record in employee motivation and performance management.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and generate meaningful reports.
- Ability to multitask, prioritise work, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficient in using transport systems and other relevant software.
- Degree in Logistics, Finance, or other business-related discipline.
- Knowledge and experience of working with appropriate computerised logistics management / ERP systems.
