The Visitor Experience team work closely with the visitors and the collections at each museum. They deliver an exceptional visitor experience and provide a consistently high standard of visitor care. They have the knowledge and confidence to use collections to engage and inspire visitors, whilst also providing safety and security at the museum. They also support Amgueddfa Cymru’s strategic priorities in terms of promoting learning for all, increasing income generation and working collaboratively with all the wider museum teams to ensure the visitor has an excellent experience whilst visiting our museums. The role can require team members to be stationed in one area or location, or to move around a wider variety of locations, dependent on where the work is required at the museum.
Key activities:
- Provide a friendly, informative and engaging experience.
- Ensure the safety and security of collections and visitors.
- Help visitors navigate the museum.
- Provide engaging information, talks, tours and demonstrations about the collections and displays at the museum.
- Promote opportunities for visitors to donate and become members.
- Promote all income generating opportunities including but not limited to events, food & beverage, retail and venue hire.
- Support events, learning and volunteering programmes.
- Promote the family of Amgueddfa Cymru museums.
- Provide feedback on visitor comments to support the development of the visitor experience and museum spaces, displays and exhibitions.
The role may also require:
- Work to deliver a great retail experience in our shops.
- Support the retail range by informing visitors of current displays/exhibitions and support products and where these can be purchased.
- Support the food & beverage experience by ensuring visitor dining areas are kept clean and tidy.
- Where required, assist with the cleaning and preparation of the museum and buildings.
- Preparing and lighting fires in the historic buildings where appropriate.
- Support community and commercial events, including commercial hire events and commercial attractions, either in a primary or supporting role.
- Support visitor arrival and car parking co-ordination.
- Be a first aider and/or fire marshal. Training for both roles will be provided.
In addition to the above it is important that Visitor Experience staff are able to remain calm and take control and lead visitors to safety in the event of evacuations and emergency situations.
