The Board of Trustees governs Amgueddfa Cymru, providing leadership, strategic direction, and challenging objectives. The Senior Executive Team manages daily operations across seven museums and the national collection centre, leading over 700 staff members.

As an incorporated charity under Royal Charter, Amgueddfa Cymru is an Arms Length Body of the Welsh Government, regulated by the Charity Commission, operating within a complex governance structure in a dynamic public sector environment.

Main Purpose of the Job

The Head of Governance ensures that AC meets its charitable objectives and legal obligations, supporting the Director of Finance and Resources in aligning the organisation with strategic goals and delivering a comprehensive governance service. The role involves advising senior leadership, maintaining high governance standards, and developing systems to facilitate effective communication and compliance with regulatory frameworks.

The postholder will support the Board of Trustees, directors, and committees, overseeing governance processes, ensuring statutory and legislative compliance, and maintaining high standards of probity and regulatory adherence.
