As a national organisation, ensuring the safety of staff, visitors, contractors, and the collections is fundamental. This role will provide professional Health & Safety leadership primarily at the National Museum Cardiff (NMC), supporting managers and teams to embed safe systems of work, manage risk proactively, and comply with statutory responsibilities. The post-holder will work collaboratively with the H&S team, Head of Site and other functions to promote a positive safety culture and ensure that the Museum’s diverse activities, from public events to specialist conservation work, are delivered safely and effectively.
Main Purpose of job
To lead, coordinate and continuously improve Health & Safety management at the NMC by providing professional expertise, oversight and assurance. The post holder will ensure that robust systems are in place to identify, assess and control risks, support managers in meeting their legal duties, develop and implement relevant procedures, and promote a culture where safety is prioritised in all activities. The role will ensure compliance with legislation, support investigations, champion good practice, and contribute to the operational effectiveness and strategic aims of the organisation.
