You will have an opportunity to help improve the lives of our beneficiaries and their families and be directly involved in the delivery of some of our Muscle Dream programmes. As a trustee with comms skills, you can help ensure our board understands the requirements from our comms efforts with greater confidence. You will of course contribute to the overall governance of our small charity.

What will you be doing?
MHF Trustees provide strategic leadership in line with the organisation’s objectives. Trustees use their knowledge, skills, passion & experience to ensure the charity achieves its objectives. You will represent the interests of all stakeholders & act as an Ambassador. A key role that will help ensure we continue our support for vulnerable children, young people & adults (8-35yrs) living with muscular dystrophy in the UK.
This year (2026/27), the charity is expecting to make some key decisions around funding and organisational sustainability. A year of outstanding income generation has put the charity in an exciting position of being able to look more closely at project development. That said, our already limited resources for existing services must of course be managed carefully. For this reason, we’re looking for trustees with experience working in charities that have perhaps undergone some level of transformation/change or that have achieved a key milestone that offers an opportunity to create a celebratory narrative that spotlights the impact and the journey to date. If you have worked as a journalist or comms specialist, even better!
MHF's board has a close relationship with the CEO, and prides itself on being friendly and relaxed. There are opportunities for trustees with a creative streak to get more involved in our broad communication and media engagement efforts.
