MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout the state of South Carolina.

The Registered Nurse role provides patient/family centered care using the nursing process and focusing on the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs.

Job Description:

  • Provides nursing care to patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation).
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards of care and practice.
  • Maintains a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment through ensuring patient privacy and responsive, respectful, accepting, and professional behaviour.
  • Demonstrates the ability to function in a professional setting through active participation in a professional practice model.
  • Coordinates the effective and efficient delivery of patient care services through the application of care management principles.
  • Identifies clinical priorities and initiates action to improve patient outcomes.

Minimum Education And Experience:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • Some positions require a valid driver's license.
  • Requires certification in Basic Life Support prior to the completion of general orientation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform job functions while standing and sitting.
  • Ability to perform job functions while walking and climbing stairs.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes.
  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
