Job Description
- Performs routine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on all types of blood and body fluid specimens under minimal supervision.
- Ensures accurate and reliable test results by adhering to a strict quality control program.
- Performs instrument function checks and preventative maintenance procedures according to department policies and procedures.
- Maintains records and statistical data according to regulatory requirements.
- Teaches new employees and students laboratory policies and procedures.
- Collects chain of custody urine drug screens as required.
- Assists as needed in all laboratory areas to maintain appropriate patient care and covers other shifts when necessary.
Experience
- Entry level skills – meets competency based criteria.
Education
Associates Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field or any equivalent combination of education and experience in the medical laboratory. Must meet qualification requirements for testing personnel set forth in Title 42, Sec. 493.1489, CLIA.
License/Certificates
MLT(ASCP) or eligible for certification (must be obtained within 1 year of hire date), Basic Life Safety (BLS) through American Heart Association.
