Job Description Summary: MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout South Carolina. Under the direction of a registered nurse, the LPN is responsible for all identified nursing care behaviors within his/her span of control during his/her tour of duty and is accountable to the Charge Nurse and/or designated individual. The LPN participates in the care of a defined patient population, assists with data collection, formulates plans for patient care, and participates in evaluating outcomes of nursing actions.
Responsibilities:
- Provide patient/family-centered care, supporting patients and families to manage their health care respecting their culture, needs, and preferences.
- Apply critical reasoning and clinical judgment to expedite appropriate care, especially with complex or potentially life-threatening conditions.
- Assist medical staff with examinations and procedures, including interviewing patients, documenting records, and vital signs.
- Perform screenings via telephone and in-person.
- Document all patient care accurately in the medical record according to policies.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Graduation from a recognized LPN program and licensed as an LPN in South Carolina or a compact state.
- One year of LPN experience preferred.
- Current BLS certification from AHA or Red Cross.
