Hospital Wound Care Nurse (RN) β Join a Team That Heals with Purpose
Are you an RN with a passion for wound care and a talent for helping patients heal faster, safer, and stronger? MUS Health Lancaster Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Wound Care Nurse to join a collaborative clinical team focused on exceptional patient outcomes.
Hours: 36 hours (Mon-Fri from 8am until 3:30pm)
Responsible for the coordination of clinical activities for the assigned patient population at MUSC Health Lancaster Medical Center. These include, but are not limited to, utilization of skills in organization, planning, implementing, evaluating, and providing care through the use of hospital and nursing standards.
Responsibilities:- Provides wound care therapies for an assigned group of patients, providing specific assessments according to protocols and procedures, clinical competence in procedural skills, treatments, and patient/caregiver education related to wound care management, and acts as a patient advocate in the delivery and coordination of patient care.
- Provides efficient and effective care with the guidance of the attending physician and/or his/her designate and attends interdisciplinary team (IDT) rounds to discuss patient care and wound care needs.
- Able to manage a number of patients at the same time with high energy and organization.
- Collaborates with other healthcare providers, physicians, advanced practice providers (APPs) and other healthcare professionals regarding specific patient wound care needs.
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Current South Carolina or Compact State Registered Nurse license
- Wound Care Certification required (must obtain within one year of hire if not already certified)
- Medical Surgical or Home Health certifications is preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association is required.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
- Proficiency in manual dexterity and fine motor skills for tasks such as taking patient vitals, administering injections, or conducting physical exams.
- Capacity to lift and move patients or medical equipment as needed.
- Visual acuity and color perception to accurately read medical charts, documents, and monitors.
- Auditory ability to effectively communicate with patients and colleagues, as well as to perceive important sounds such as alarms or patient instructions.
- Stamina and resilience to handle the physical and emotional demands of providing patient care, including long shifts and potentially stressful situations.
- Mobility to navigate clinical environments, including moving between patient rooms, offices, and other areas of the facility.
- Compliance with infection control protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
