MUSC Health Elgin Urgent Care is searching for a PRN Advanced Practice Provider (APP). The successful applicant will work on a PRN basis to care for patients at MUSC Health’s Urgent Care located in Elgin, SC. The APP will join a busy and thriving urgent care team alongside physicians and other advanced practice providers, and must be able to work in a high‑volume clinic while providing compassionate patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations.
  • Evaluates and treats patients based on history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results in accordance with the practice agreement or scope of practice guideline.
  • Obtains DOT certification to conduct DOT physicals when required.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures including:
  • Administer local anesthesia
  • Incision and drainage
  • Suturing lacerations
  • Basic splinting
  • Wound care
  • Cerumen disimpaction
  • Foreign body extractions
  • Non‑surgical epistaxis management
  • Pelvic exam
  • Insertion of IVs for fluids/starting fluids for dehydration
  • Basic EKG interpretation with physician over‑read
  • Initiates referrals to other health care providers and/or consults with the attending physician or collaborating physician.
  • Documents and bills for direct care provided.
  • Utilizes current research and evidence‑based decision‑making in all clinical practice.
  • Participates in quality/performance improvement activities, clinical research, accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization.
  • Engages in professional organizations and continuing education, and may precept students or new team members.
  • Maintains required licenses, certifications, CNEs/CMEs, and other credentials as required by policy and state law.
  • Required Qualifications

    • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physician Assistant, or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program and current licensure or eligibility for licensure as an APRN.
    • FNP (Family NP) with experience covering the full lifespan, or equivalent APRN with at least one year of APP experience in urgent care, primary care, or emergency medicine.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
    • DHEC and DEA certifications.
