Role Purpose: The Critical Services Engineer is a senior, highly competent Low Voltage electrical professional responsible for the planning, execution, modification, testing, and re-energisation of mission-critical LV infrastructure in high-risk environments. The role requires the engineer to independently lead end-to-end LV works, including shutdown planning, safe isolation, modification works, testing, energisation, and incident response, while operating under strict technical governance, safety standards, and authorisation controls. This position is not installation-focused. It is an engineering authority role that blends technical depth, operational control, safety leadership, and client-facing accountability.

- LV shutdown planning & execution
- Panel, MCCB, ACB & busbar modification
- Safe isolation (LOTO) & Authorised Person duties
- LV switchgear inspection and assessment
- MCCB replacement and configuration

- LV panel and main distribution board modifications

Core responsibilities:
- Engineering & Technical Delivery: The engineer must independently plan and deliver complex LV works, including LV switchgear inspection and assessment, MCCB replacement and configuration, ACB maintenance, retrofit and withdrawal units, testing, verification, and certification, controlled re-energisation and load monitoring.
- Shutdown Planning & Control: Lead planned shutdowns including isolation matrices, switching schedules, LOTO plans. Coordinate multi-board shutdowns and infrastructure dependencies. Act as the on-site technical authority during shutdown execution.
- Electrical Safety & Authorised Person Duties: Operate as a Low Voltage Authorised Person. Apply Electricity at Work Regulations in live operational environments. Control permit-to-work systems and exclusion zones. Lead emergency switching and fault response.
- Testing, Diagnostics & Commissioning: Perform and lead initial and periodic verification, continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, and functional testing, load monitoring and post-energisation thermal scans. Identify defects, degradation, and lifecycle risks.
- Arc Flash & High-Energy Risk Management: Apply arc flash risk assessments and incident energy principles. Select and enforce correct PPE and switching boundaries. Implement arc mitigation and safe switching techniques.
- Documentation & Engineering Authority: Produce and approve survey reports, engineering packs, RAMS, single line diagrams, QA and completion packs, certificates and technical reports. Maintain 100% documented and auditable works.
