Murray Recruitment are recruiting a Bookkeeper for our client based in Glasgow. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Bookkeeper to take full ownership of the finance function within a dynamic and fast-paced SME. The role offers broad responsibility and variety, operating as the sole finance contact and reporting directly to the Managing Director.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will oversee all day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to the wider group. This hands-on position is ideal for someone who thrives in a standalone role and enjoys working in a busy, evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all sales and purchase ledger activities.
- Carry out credit control and oversee the aged debt ledger.
- Process payroll including submissions and statutory reporting.
- Complete bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
- Prepare and submit monthly financial reporting packs to Group Finance.
- Support month-end and year-end processes.
- Liaise with internal departments, external suppliers, and professional advisers.
- Utilise accounting software such as QuickBooks or Sage for all financial tasks.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a standalone bookkeeping role within an SME environment.
- Background in facilities management, building services, or the wider service sector (preferred).
- Confident in managing all areas of finance including payroll and credit control.
- Proficient in using QuickBooks or Sage accounting software.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Able to work independently and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced setting.

- Salary up to £41,000 (dependent on experience).
- Permanent, full-time office-based role.
- Location: Glasgow.
- Working hours: Monday to Thursday 8:30am – 5:00pm, Friday 8:30am – 4:00pm.
- 25 days annual leave plus 8 statutory holidays.
