Murray Recruitment are recruiting a Transport Administrator for our client based in South Lanarkshire. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual to join a busy transport team within a growing business. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting daily transport operations, ensuring schedules, compliance, and administration tasks are completed efficiently. Previous transport experience would be advantageous; however, full training and long-term career progression opportunities will be provided, with a clear pathway towards a future Transport Manager position.

Role Overview

The Transport Administrator will support the smooth day-to-day coordination of transport operations, assisting with scheduling, driver communication, compliance administration, and vehicle records. This role requires strong organisational skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and scheduling daily transport operations
  • Allocate vehicles, drivers, and equipment efficiently
  • Monitor transport activity and update internal systems accurately
  • Communicate delays, changes, and updates to drivers and the wider team
  • Act as a first point of contact for driver queries and support
  • Maintain driver and vehicle compliance records
  • Monitor vehicle checks, defect reports, and driver hours
  • Support timesheet processing and ensure job completion information is accurate
  • Coordinate vehicle maintenance bookings and track downtime
  • Monitor telematics systems and report discrepancies where required
  • Assist with reporting and preparation for audits
  • Support the wider transport team with administrative duties as required

Skills & Experience

  • Previous administration experience is essential
  • Experience within transport or logistics would be advantageous
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Confident IT and systems user
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and manage multiple tasks
  • Proactive and team-focused approach
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
