Murray Recruitment are recruiting a Finance Assistant for our client based in South Lanarkshire.

Role Overview

An exciting opportunity has become available for a proactive and enthusiastic Finance Assistant to join a small, established finance team within a growing business. Working closely with the Accountant, you will support the day-to-day finance function while assisting with month-end processes, reconciliations, reporting and transactional finance. This would suit someone with previous Finance Assistant experience who has also gained exposure to areas such as Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and is looking to continue developing their finance career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts, including prepayments and accruals.
  • Support month-end reporting and provide financial information as required.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and assist with maintaining strong financial controls.
  • Prepare and process journals accurately.
  • Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activity when required.
  • Complete ad hoc transactional finance processing.
  • Prepare and maintain daily cash flow reporting.
  • Organise, analyse and maintain financial data and records.
  • Assist the Accountant and wider finance team with general finance duties and continuous improvement of processes.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience working as a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant or within a similar finance position, ideally with 1–2 years' relevant experience.
  • Experience across transactional finance, including Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable.
  • Exposure to management accounts, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations would be advantageous.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with strong overall Microsoft Office capability.
  • Sage 50 Payroll processing experience would be desirable.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Confident communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across the business.
  • Proactive, organised and comfortable managing competing priorities.
  • A positive, team-focused approach with a willingness to take ownership of tasks.

Package

  • Salary: Β£30,000–£35,000 DOE
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
  • Holiday: 29 days including public holidays
