An experienced Sub Agent is required to support the delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure works on a live project in Stratford, East London. This is a hands-on site role suited to a Sub Agent who understands how to run sections of work properly, manage subcontractors, maintain programme and cost control, and uphold high standards of safety, quality and compliance.

The role involves managing small-value civil engineering works or supporting the Site Agent and Project Manager on larger schemes, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to specification. You will act as a key link between site teams, subcontractors and the wider project delivery function.

Key responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day site activities and sections of work
  • Support programme planning, monitoring and delivery
  • Interpret drawings, specifications and construction information
  • Provide engineering and technical support to the site team
  • Chair site meetings and contribute to client reporting
  • Ensure accurate records, site diaries and as-built information
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality:
  • Promote safe working practices and site compliance
  • Ensure inductions, competencies and permits are in place
  • Maintain HSEQ documentation and QA records
  • Manage inspections, audits and defect-free handover
  • Liaise with third parties and statutory bodies as required
Cost & Resource Control:
  • Support cost planning, forecasting and commercial performance
  • Manage site resources and subcontractors effectively
  • Maintain accurate records for labour, plant and materials
  • Challenge inefficiencies and drive best value on site
Required experience:
  • Proven experience as a Sub Agent or Section Engineer / Senior Engineer stepping up
  • Strong civil engineering background (ideally infrastructure or water)
  • Working knowledge of NEC contracts, CDM regulations and construction programmes
  • Experience managing subcontractors and site teams
  • Ability to read and challenge drawings and resolve technical issues
  • CSCS card
  • SMSTS
  • Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Full UK driving licence
Desirable experience:
  • Water or utilities project experience
  • Temporary Works Co-ordinator
  • NEBOSH or IOSH
  • Confined space or service avoidance training
  • Experience on major frameworks or long-term programmes
