A leading alternative real estate finance platform is seeking a Senior / Director-level Originator to drive the growth of its Structured Finance function. This front-end, commercially driven role combines origination, structuring, execution, and team leadership across complex real estate debt transactions.
You will originate and execute bespoke debt solutions across development and other short-term alternative finance opportunities. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will shape capital structures, drive commercial negotiations, and lead deals from idea generation through to completion. This role also carries line management responsibility, supporting team development and ensuring consistent standards across a high-performing Structured Finance unit.
Key Responsibilities:- Origination & Relationship Development
- Drive new structured finance opportunities across short-term and alternative real estate debt markets.
- Build and maintain senior relationships with developers, sponsors, private equity firms, family offices, advisers and intermediaries.
- Act as a primary coverage officer for key clients, cultivating repeat business and long-term partnerships.
- Identify emerging market opportunities aligned to the platform’s product set and risk appetite.
- Deal Structuring & Execution
- Lead the structuring of bespoke debt solutions, including complex capital stacks and non-standard funding requirements.
- Own commercial negotiations with borrowers and advisers.
- Partner with Credit, Risk, Legal and Portfolio teams to progress deals from mandate to completion.
- Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor members of the Structured Finance team.
- Provide guidance on origination strategy, structuring, underwriting and execution.
- Oversee workflow and ensure balanced capacity across live transactions.
- Maintain strong analytical and documentation standards within the function.
- Market Presence & Collaboration
- Represent the platform at relevant industry events and targeted business development activities.
- Support wider marketing and origination initiatives.
- Ensure effective handover into portfolio management following completion.
- Share market intelligence and client insights with senior leadership.
- Proven track record in structured real estate finance, development finance or complex real estate debt origination.
- Strong network across UK developers, sponsors, advisers and intermediaries.
- Deep understanding of capital structures, lending risk and bespoke structuring.
- Highly commercial, relationship-driven, with ability to originate and close deals independently.
- Experience managing or mentoring junior team members.
- Confident in presenting to senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience with private-equity-backed or alternative credit platforms.
- Exposure to higher-leverage, transitional or non-core real estate strategies.
- Background in investment banking, structured lending or alternative credit.
