We are looking for an experienced Design Manager to join a well-established Water team in Bristol, working on a long-term framework delivering critical water infrastructure schemes across the region. This is a strong opportunity for a Design Manager who wants responsibility, stability and long-term career development within a collaborative and supportive environment.
Design Manager Role
You will manage and coordinate design activities from bid stage through to delivery, ensuring designs are safe, compliant, sustainable and fully aligned with programme, cost and construction requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage design resources, team structures and design strategy across bid and delivery phases
- Lead the delivery of a coordinated, compliant and sustainable design service
- Oversee the design process through all RIBA stages, driving safety, quality and continuous improvement
- Develop and manage integrated design programmes, tracking progress against project milestones
- Chair and coordinate design reviews and technical meetings with internal teams and supply chain partners
- Ensure designs meet agreed briefs, specifications and contractual requirements
- Promote innovation and embed sustainable design solutions across projects
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience as a Design Manager or Senior Design Manager within construction or infrastructure
- Strong understanding of construction practices, standards and design management processes
- Experience managing multiple projects and multidisciplinary design teams
- Excellent planning, coordination and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to drive performance, compliance and collaboration
- Specialist knowledge of the UK Water Industry
