Mechanical / Electrical Project Engineer
We are recruiting for both Mechanical Project Engineers and Electrical Project Engineers to support the delivery of major water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the Thames Water region.
These positions offer the opportunity to work on large-scale capital projects from design through to commissioning and handover, playing a key role in the successful delivery of critical water infrastructure.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary project team, you will support engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle while collaborating with site teams, suppliers, subcontractors and client stakeholders.
The Role
As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of mechanical or electrical engineering activities across a portfolio of water and wastewater projects. You will work closely with construction, commissioning and design teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Support engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle from design through to commissioning and handover. Review technical drawings, specifications and engineering documentation. Coordinate installation activities with site teams, suppliers and subcontractors. Support construction, testing, commissioning and handover activities. Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs). Assist with technical queries, design changes and management of change processes. Monitor quality, programme and health & safety performance. Liaise with Thames Water representatives and multidisciplinary project teams. Support the development of commissioning documentation and technical submissions. Contribute to continuous improvement and lessons learned activities.
Essential Requirements
Mechanical Project Engineer
HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Experience within utilities, infrastructure, manufacturing, water, energy or industrial environments. Knowledge of mechanical installations and equipment associated with industrial or process environments. Understanding of construction project delivery and health & safety requirements. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Full UK Driving Licence.
Electrical Project Engineer
HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Experience within utilities, infrastructure, manufacturing, water, energy or industrial environments. Knowledge of industrial electrical installations, MCCs and power distribution systems. Understanding of construction project delivery and health & safety requirements. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Experience
Water industry experience. Knowledge of Thames Water standards. Exposure to HV systems. Experience of industrial communications and control systems. Working towards professional registration (EngTech, IEng or CEng). SMSTS, SSSTS or CSCS card. Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.
