Location: Remote with bi-weekly travel to Peterborough (2 days every 2 weeks)
Contract: 12-month rolling contract (long-term programme - AMP8, 5+ years potential)
Rate: Up to £530 per day (DOE)
Expenses: Door-to-door mileage, reimbursable lodge + £25 per night allowance
The Role
We are recruiting an Electrical Design Engineer to support a major AMP8 capital delivery programme within the water and wastewater sector. This is a long-term contract opportunity offering stability, flexibility and exposure to a multi-billion investment programme.
You will provide high-quality electrical engineering design and technical support across water and wastewater treatment projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams, supply chain partners and design managers to ensure safe, compliant and efficient project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce electrical design solutions for water and wastewater treatment assets
- Prepare technical schedules, data sheets and specifications
- Carry out engineering calculations (including pump, power and mass balance calculations)
- Design electrical installation systems, including hazardous areas
- Design incoming power supplies, control, monitoring, telemetry and instrumentation systems
- Review and technically assess supply chain designs and bids
Project & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all electrical deliverables meet required standards, specifications and MAS requirements
- Maintain quality, consistency and accuracy across all technical documentation
- Work with Senior Engineers and Discipline Heads to ensure designs are checked and approved
- Identify and escalate risks impacting programme, cost or quality
Health, Safety & CDM
- Produce safe, compliant designs in line with CDM Regulations and industry standards
- Support the drive for health & safety excellence and a zero-accident culture
- Ensure adherence to safe systems of work, audits and reporting procedures
Collaboration
- Work closely with other engineering disciplines to manage interfaces and resolve clashes
- Support Project Design Managers with technical guidance and innovation opportunities
- Share best practice and contribute to continuous improvement across the programme
About You
- Essential Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering
- Proven experience delivering electrical design within a project engineering environment
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems in water or wastewater treatment
- Experience producing calculations, specifications and technical documentation
- Good understanding of health & safety, CDM and safe design principles
- Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills
- Confident IT skills and ability to manage technical information effectively
Desirable
- Experience working on large UK water frameworks or AMP programmes
- Knowledge of multidisciplinary design interfaces
- Experience working with Tier 1 contractors or integrated alliances
