Position Description: Small Cells Technician
Business Unit: Small Cell
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am, end time varies based on job schedule
Travel: Required 75-100%

Job Description: Responsible for performing work on small cell projects ensuring that the work is completed on time and on budget for customers in accordance with company policies and procedures.

- Small Cell Construction Operations:
- Ensures all work is completed in accordance with construction standards, processes, and procedures.
- Responsible for installation, troubleshooting and testing small cell sites.
- Performs preventative maintenance inspections to remote DAS equipment and host-related equipment.
- Installation of small cell hardware and equipment for both aerial and underground locations.
- Installation and termination of coaxial cables.
- Operation and understanding of RF test equipment such as PIM unit, sweep meter, and light meter.
- Installation of required power and grounding.
- Ensures accurate and complete files are maintained for projects and appropriate closeout documents are completed and submitted in a timely manner.
- Follows all customer specifications for work completed.
- Ensures that all jobs are maintained in project tracking system with complete accuracy.
- Represents the company as the expert on construction issues relating to construction/modification of small cells.
Quality Control and Closeouts:
- Review the scope of work and construction drawings.
- Verify that all materials for the project are taken to the job site.
- Verify that all the tools, equipment and stocked supplies on your trailer are available and in working order.
- Report any deviations from the scope of work/construction drawings to the Superintendent.
- Complete and submit daily paperwork: Time sheets, JHAs, Lift plans, any additional documents as required.
- Take pictures of final work and provide all turnover documentation to Murphy Tower Project Manager.
Vehicle/Fleet:
- Check the oil & fluids of each truck & inspect each job trailer(s) and each piece of equipment in your charge before use.
- Clean out truck(s) & trailer(s) after each job and put materials and equipment away.
Safety Awareness:
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed.
- Report any safety concerns to the Safety Coordinator or Superintendent.
- Conduct a daily tailgate meeting to address daily tasks and safety issues.
Other Duties as Assigned:
- Cleaning
- Equipment inventory/maintenance
- Assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
Employees will need to be able to perform the following:
- Ability to travel up to 50% of time, with typical overnight stays lasting Monday — Friday, sometimes longer (infrequently), and work/stay out of state.
- Ability to follow instructions/protocols/processes.
- Familiarity with proper truck/trailer/equipment maintenance.
- Strong organizational skills and construction related aptitude including ability to interpret construction drawings.
- Strong commitment to safety.
- Proficiency with small hand tools.
- Telecommunications/wireless construction experience is a plus.
Educational Development and Qualifications:
Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent
Physical, Mental, and Visual Effort:
Able to work in extreme weather conditions such as heat, cold, and strong winds. Constant spatial awareness is required for safety.
