Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work with Murphy Technical Services on Cambridge - Rail Station project
Murphy Technical Services (MTS) is growing and sits within the multidisciplined Specialist Businesses Unit of Murphy. This includes building, ground engineering, electrical services, utility connections, design and engineering, alongside the specialisms of the wider business.
A day in the life of a Senior Quantity Surveyor
- Drafting and input on contract and subcontract negotiations, subcontract management and agreement of final accounts
- Ensuring awareness off and compliance with our key risk parameters
- Build on and manage client, supplier and internal relationships.
- Preparation and presentation of monthly project cost value reconciliation, ensuring your awareness and compliance with revenue recognition rules.
- Review and progress the management of opportunity and threat.
- Define and implement a commercial strategy for each project.
- Ensure compliance with year end.
- Preparation of applications for payment to maintain cash position, including WIP control, cash flow production and improvement plans.
- Input into growing your own high performing team, highlighting your resourcing needs to line and project management.
- Mentor and oversee the progression of junior team members (not just commercial)
- Input into apprentice and graduate recruitment annually

- Experience in energy, highway, rail, or M&E projects
- NEC experience
- Gained or seeking to attain professional accreditation, MRICS, MCICES, MCIOB or equivalent.
- Commercially astute with substantial proven experience within a commercial role in the Construction Industry
- Good knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract and Standard Methods of Measurement.
- Degree or equivalent to support a commercial background.
- Full driving licence
