Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Civil Engineer to work with the Energy Team on the SSE ASTI Framework. A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Civil Engineer:
- Implement and promote the Better Engineered strategic objective on projects and within the business unit.
- Participate in engineering initiatives within the business unit.
- Good understanding of subject matter within discipline(s).
- Acting as Engineering Manager on projects with consulting and engaging with Technical Leads/external engineering expertise as required.
- Holistic management of projects design team (inhouse or subcontractors) and their deliverables in line with the project’s key milestones.
- Develop effective delivery process to improve the production of design deliverables to time/cost/quality.
- Produce and manage RFI schedule and process, liaising directly with the design team.
- Supervision and close liaison on Design Management and coordination across a portfolio of projects.
- Preparation of scope of work for Engineering subcontracts.
- Supporting Quality (Production of Design Quality Plans, providing VDDRs, reviewing ITP, attending key FATs, attending QA audits on designers).
- Provide input to WBS, Pre-Construction programme creation and interfacing this with the construction programme.
- Promote and participate in engineering innovation and BIM solutions to our clients.
- Manage and actively pursue performance improvement of the engineering capability and function, assisting in establishing and implementing best practice policies and procedures for the function.

- Chartered Engineer or working towards.
- Experience of working with National Grid Transmission Networks, SSEN and DNO is desirable.
- Knowledge of transmission or distribution i.e. substations is desirable.
