Would you like to join one of the UK\’s Best Big Companies as awarded by Best Companies? Murphy is currently recruiting for a Planning Manager to join our award-winning Energy team. Our team is known for its extensive in-house expertise and continual drive to innovate within the industry. The Planning Manager will lead and be accountable for the planning within Substations function. The Planning Manager will be accountable for ensuring that Substation projects and tenders are effectively planned, scheduled, and monitored.
Following the ‘One Murphy’ approach, we’re able to deliver all aspects of the projects we work on. Murphy has designed, constructed, and commissioned projects for clients such as National Grid, SSE and Ørsted, on both transmission and distribution networks within the Energy sector.
What will you be doing?
- Accountable for ensuring that integrated, whole life programmes are prepared from first principles in accordance with the Planning and Work Winning procedures.
- Endure tender programmes are critically analysed to ensure that the planning and scheduling that underpins them is appropriate, contract / procedurally compliant, robust, and achievable.
- Accountable for ensuring that integrated, whole life programmes are prepared and maintained from first principles in accordance with the Planning procedure and Contract requirements.
- Critically analyse the performance of projects to identify areas of concern, providing guidance to the business on measures to improve performance.
- Ensure that there are measures in place to feedback actual outputs and productivity information to the work winning / estimating teams.
- Ensure that there is accurate and transparent reporting of progress, risk and issues in relation to the programme.
- Ensure that accurate and detailed planning & progress records are maintained.
- Undertake and participate in programme risk workshops using tools such as QSRA.
- Lead the planning team within their area of responsibility.
- Lead roll out and adoption of planning & project controls procedures and processes.
- Organise resources within their portfolio to maximise efficiency and effectiveness.
- Adopt a rigorous and proactive regime of audit and review to ensure planning requirements are adopted, minimise non-compliance, drive high standards and ultimately improve project / business performance.
- Manage the proper and controlled use of the Enterprise planning tools.
- Contribute to the development of business unit and sector plans and strategies.
- Understand client specific requirements and ensure these are catered for.
- Develop and maintain effective communication and collaborative relationships with the Client and other project stakeholders.
- Manage the effective and efficient allocation of resources to projects and tenders.
Who are we looking for?
- Experience in contract and tender planning for a Tier 1 contractor
- Experience in a site role (Engineering, planning, management) for a Tier 1 contractor
- Experience of delivering HV Power, Transmission and Distrubution projects.
- Experience within planning software (P6, Asta, TILOS, QSRA)
- Degree educated, preferably in a Construction / Engineering discipline.
- Chartered Engineer, CIOB, APM or equivalent or working towards
