Facilities Operations Director at Murphy

Murphy is recruiting for a Facilities Operations Director to lead the Murphy Facilities Management team across the UK&I. This role ensures high service levels, legal compliance, and safety within an annually agreed budget.

A day in the life of a Murphy Facilities Operations Director

  1. Procure, manage, and tender all outsourced contracts for FM.
  2. Manage outsourced contracts through KPIs and regular reporting.
  3. Report on FM incidents across UK&I offices and resolve issues.
  4. Lead and manage the Facilities Manager and the Facilities Management team.
  5. Liaise with Facilities Manager, Facilities Coordinators, and Principal Tenants to ensure service charge budgets are recouped appropriately.
  6. Maintain a CAFM system compliant with legislation, ensuring a safe environment and audit readiness.
  7. Oversee hard and soft FM, including building fabric, landscaping, M&E systems, security, pest control, cleaning, waste disposal, lifts/escalators, boilers, HVAC, and fire regulations.
  8. Manage outsourced vending contracts and seek continuous improvement.
  9. Establish a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) system to prevent incidents.
  10. Produce business cases for new projects, considering lifecycle and capital costs.
  11. Manage energy and utilities to reduce long-term costs and promote sustainability.
  12. Ensure incidents and requests are handled efficiently, monitored via a service desk, with monthly metrics.
  13. Participate in performance reviews and strive for continuous improvement.
  14. Conduct employee surveys for feedback on systems and facilities.
  15. Implement a green travel plan to enhance sustainability and reduce reliance on personal cars.

Candidate requirements

  • At least 5 years’ experience managing hard and soft FM services.
  • Proficiency with CAFM systems for incident tracking and reporting.
  • Ability to interpret accountancy reports and compare against budgets.
  • Knowledge of advanced FM systems and their benefits.
  • Experience working in hot-desk or agile environments and understanding their implementation.
  • Understanding of M&E systems to liaise with specialists and interpret reports.
  • Project management knowledge is desirable.
