Buyer – Energy – Leeds

J Murphy and Sons Ltd are currently looking for a Buyer to join our award-winning team. Our team is known for its extensive in-house expertise and continual drive to innovate within the industry. The Buyer provides a professional procurement service to the business unit striving to achieve value for money and high stakeholder satisfaction. The role delivers outcomes and objectives as agreed with the Head of Procurement whilst also assisting subcontract procurement across work winning and live projects.

What you will be doing

  • Subcontract procurement across work winning and live project stages
  • Maintain Procurement Schedules and Procurement Dashboards
  • Input to Procurement Strategy for tenders and projects
  • Undertake the full procurement cycle – from sourcing potential supply chain, pulling together and issuing ITT’s, quote analysis, preferred bidder recommendation, order placement and conducting supply chain performance reviews
  • Work effectively across a range of internal stakeholders – Commercial, Estimating, Quality, H&S, Design & Engineering and Operations and externally with the Supply Chain
  • Meet with operational teams and deliver their buying requirements and produce Minutes of Meetings
  • Input to Procurement documents including Risk & Opportunity Registers
  • Meeting supply chain partners to keep abreast of current market conditions, offerings etc.
  • Travel to live project sites as required

Who are we looking for?

  • Experience in a procurement role, preferably gained within an engineering environment
  • CIPS accredited or working towards
  • High level numeracy and IT skills, with ability to expertly use a range of relevant software
  • Good interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise effectively and work collaboratively with all staff and external contacts at all levels
  • Knowledge of key trades for Power and Oil & Gas projects / supply chain desirable
