Murphy is recruiting for a Materials Buyer to work with the Energy Team on the SSE ASTI Framework. We deliver Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) projects serving both regulated and private customers along with technical and engineering solutions within the conventional power and energy transition markets. Responsibilities

  • Provide an effective and professional service in the procurement of materials.
  • Work as part of a dedicated procurement team for the project.
  • Provide best value for project procurement solutions for the project.
  • Procurement of materials and subcontracts covering; production and management of the procurement schedule, development of invitation to tender documents in conjunction with project teams.
  • Carry out tender analysis and award recommendations.
  • Advise on the project’s supply chain management activities, including structuring the supply chain and carrying out performance and relationship management to drive improved performance/cost benefits.
  • Support activities that generate and encourage efficient, productive and continuously improving supply chain performance.
  • Take part in group procurement functional goals and objectives within the region.
  • Continuously seek out and assess new supply chain members to meet project demand.
  • Develop and forge closer relationships with the supply chain to encourage a culture of inclusive interaction and learning and an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding.

Qualifications

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of work practices, processes and procedures within the construction procurement process.
  • Existing business network and relationships with the supply chain.
  • Working knowledge of contracts i.e. NEC.
  • Understanding of strategic procurement practices.
  • Knowledge of sustainability within procurement practices.
