Overview

In this role you lead safety, health, environmental, sustainability and quality (SHESQ) across the Western Isles Project and broader Energy Team. You’ll advise managers, drive compliance, and steer SHESQ plans and campaigns. You’ll conduct audits and investigations to prevent incidents and support continuous improvement. You join a forward-thinking, multi-country EPC contractor focused on energy security and sustainable power projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead SHESQ governance with the SHESQ function and liaise with Operations Directors
  • Advise managers to fulfill statutory duties and company procedures
  • Ensure site teams comply with SHESQ plans and relevant regulations
  • Plan and perform regular site inspections and audits for policy compliance
  • Oversee accident/incident investigations and implement corrective actions
  • Develop and implement SHESQ campaigns and improvement plans
  • Prepare and maintain SHESQ plans, procedures, and documentation
  • Identify SHESQ issues and establish appropriate controls in contracts/yards
  • Obtain SHESQ consents, permits or exemptions as required
  • Maintain compliance records with legislation and contract requirements

Key requirements

  • Proven experience in a SHES/Health & Safety managerial role
  • SHES membership (e.g., NEBOSH)
  • Senior SHESQ membership (IOSH / IEMA / CQI)
  • MS Office familiarity (Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio, MS Project)
  • Solid understanding of ISO 9001, 14001 and BS OHSAS 18001
  • Experience in civil engineering or construction
  • Leadership and advisory capabilities
  • Strong communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams
