Murphy is recruiting for a Design Manager to join our growing Infrastructure team, delivering a major water infrastructure project in partnership with United Utilities, as part of the AMP8 programme.

A day in the life of a Murphy Design Manager:

  • Produce design briefs for permanent works
  • Ensure consultants are appointed appropriately
  • Lead technical reviews of submissions from our design partners
  • Ensure conformance to the Murphy Design Management procedure
  • Lead design matters on small/medium/large/mega sized project/s as directed
  • Allocate design tasks to individuals/companies as required and maintain associated RACI
  • Manage day to day interface between design and construction teams and maintain its adequate records
  • Review design progress according to programme and contractual requirements
  • Lead constructability reviews
  • Involvement in work winning to ensure consultants are engaged appropriately and adequate allowances are included in the bid
  • Assist Senior Design Managers, consultants and multi-discipline engineering teams to deliver the design solutions to schedule and budget to a high standard of professional competence
  • Management of design change to support best outcome for the project
  • Support with management of risk and opportunity in design
