Murphy Geospatial captures, collates, verifies and governs geospatial data, enabling our clients to make informed decisions across the project lifecycle. Proven geospatial solutions through design, construction and in-use phases of projects across six key sectors: Infrastructure, Manufacturing, Energy, Utilities, Property and Natural Environment.
The Opportunity: We’re expanding our Subsurface Engineering teams in Manchester, Birmingham and London and are hiring Utility Surveyors at all levels, from entry-level to experienced professionals. Due to a strong pipeline of newly secured infrastructure projects, we’re growing our capability to deliver high-precision underground data that supports some of the UK’s most transformative developments. You’ll work with the latest geospatial technology and survey methods, gaining hands-on experience and making a real impact on the built environment.
What will I be doing in my new role?
- Undertaking utility surveys in a variety of environments using the latest EM and GPR technologies and equipment available and in accordance with PAS 128 standards
- Handling, processing, and interpreting geospatial data within the sub-surface environment
- Liaising with clients and on-site teams to ensure surveys meet project requirements
- Undertaking site visits and client meetings (for the senior role) to assist in the tendering stage of larger projects
- Ensuring adherence to health, safety, and quality standards on-site
- Supporting junior team members and contributing to knowledge sharing across the department
Requirements of the role:
- Strong knowledge of the principles and practices of GPR and underground surveying
- Ability to use EML and GPR with high proficiency
- Understanding and knowledge of PAS128
- Ability to understand and analyse asset owner record drawings
- QCF3/QCF5 highly desirable but not a requirement
- Understanding and knowledge of land surveying (desirable but not a requirement)
- Good writing skills and proficiency in the English language
- The right to work in the UK
- Flexibility to travel nationwide as required by our clients
- Possess a full clean manual driving licence
- Strong work ethic with drive for career growth
