The Opportunity
We are recruiting a BIM Operations Manager to join our Digital Engineering department in London. This role balances departmental and project management with hands-on BIM modelling on high-profile projects, using the latest software and workflows to enhance modelling processes. This is a hybrid role with one day per week in our Watford office after onboarding.
Responsibilities
Department & Team Management
- Oversee operations of the in-house modelling team.
- Schedule staff and equipment efficiently across projects.
- Provide training, mentoring and motivation to support team development.
- Support HR activities including recruitment, performance management, appraisals and employee relations.
- Maintain BIM hardware, software licenses, and ensure Health & Safety compliance.
Project Oversight & Delivery
- Monitor ongoing projects, assist with technical delivery and model setups (including Navisworks).
- Collaborate with Heads of Department, Managing Director, and Finance to ensure projects meet budget and timelines.
- Conduct quality assurance and prepare for audits, maintaining BSI ISO19650 Kitemark certification.
- Financial tracking on a project-by-project and monthly basis, and recording of all works in the company’s business management system.
- Participate in site/survey activities as needed for project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with BIM standards and client requirements throughout the full project lifecycle.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Manage client communication, updates and expectations from project start to completion.
- Assist with project tenders, proposals, quotations, and submission of key data.
- Develop and maintain a panel of subcontractors aligned with business strategy.
- Facilitate business growth by working with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, JV partners, and technology providers.
- Refine workflows related to Scan-to-BIM, quality assurance, and model validation.
- Lead research and innovation on BIM workflows, software and equipment.
- Conduct presentations to promote the company’s BIM offering internally and externally as required.
- Support continuous improvement and explore new digital tools to streamline BIM processes.
Requirements
- BIM Coordination or BIM Management Certification and/or minimum 7 years relevant experience
- Experience with Autodesk suite (Revit, Navisworks, BIM360)
- Expert understanding of model coordination and federation
- Strong experience with 3D laser scanning and Scan-to-BIM modelling from point clouds
- Competency with ArchiCAD, AECOSIM, Unity, Solibri or similar
- Experience of team management and project management in a BIM-related context
- The right to work in the UK
- Degree in Geomatics, Surveying, Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field
