Murphy deploys AI agents for banks starting with the most straightforward business case: voice AI for debt collection. We’ve built a fully-fledged platform designed to optimize recovery rates while maintaining respectful and personalized communication. Our AI-powered agents adapt instantly, engaging with debtors across channels like voice, messengers, email and SMS to maximize results while preserving trust. We’re live with Santander, Revolut, BBVA and dozens others. We’ve proven the product in large-scale pilots with top-tier banks. And now we need to move fast to secure leadership in this $300Bn+ industry.
About the team
Our mid-market customers need a collections agent that works within weeks. To do that for many customers at once, we rely on standard workflows, reusable components and strong tooling, tuned to each customer segment. Forward Deployed Engineers on the mid-market team launch these agents and keep improving the system behind them. Each launch should be faster and more reliable than the last.
About the role
As a Forward Deployed Engineer on the mid-market team, you run several implementations in parallel, each taking a customer from kickoff to a live agent in about four weeks. You configure agents on Murphy's platform using our templates, adapt them to each customer, and test them before launch. After go-live, you track how each agent performs, explain the results to the customer, and tune the agent and contact strategy. Over time, you improve those templates and tools so the whole team can deliver more with less effort. This is also where new FDEs at Murphy learn the craft. Strong mid-market FDEs move on to our enterprise team, which builds custom deployments for banks. You’ll be based in London and launch agents for lenders, telcos, utilities, healthcare providers and servicers in the UK and Ireland.
In this role, you will:
- Run multiple mid-market implementations at the same time, from kickoff to go-live, on a fixed timeline.
- Configure and adapt agents from our segment templates to each customer's policies, products and tone.
- Configure how and when we reach debtors: call windows, retry and frequency rules within each country's regulations, channel mix (voice, SMS, RCS, WhatsApp), payment links and hand-offs to human agents.
- Set up customer data imports and exports using our standard integration flows.
- Test agents with simulations and evaluations before launch, and fix what fails.
- Analyze production performance (contact rates, promises, payments, funnel) with SQL and dashboards, explain results to customers, and turn findings into agent or strategy improvements.
- Spot repeated work across implementations and turn it into templates, scripts or tooling.
- Help shape the standard workflow for each segment (telco, utilities, healthcare, servicers, lenders).
- Hand over live customers to our Deployment Strategists with clear documentation.
- Share product gaps and customer feedback with Product and Engineering.
Your background looks something like this:
- 1 to 3 years in a technical role: software engineering, solutions engineering, implementation, technical support or technical consulting. Strong graduates are welcome too.
- You write Python and/or TypeScript and SQL, work with APIs and handle data files.
- You like structured, repeatable work and look for ways to automate it.
- You manage several projects at once and keep each one on schedule.
- You communicate clearly with customers and teammates.
- Fluent English. Spanish, Portuguese, French, Arabic, German or Italian is a big plus.
Even better if you have:
- Hands-on experience with LLMs: prompting, evals or building small agents.
- Exposure to collections, lending, telco, utilities or other customer operations.
- A Computer Science, Engineering or Math degree, or equivalent experience.
What we offer:
- Competitive salary, based on your skills, experience and impact.
- Stock options: Because we all build Murphy together - you’ll own a piece of what we’re creating.
- Impact: Be part of our startup journey from day one, playing a key role in our growth and building something meaningful from the ground up.
- Learning: Continuous development through trainings, knowledge-sharing, and exposure to other top-tier startups in our ecosystem.
- Hybrid & Flexible: Our default setup is hybrid - 3 days a week at our office in London and 2 days of remote work. But if there’s one thing that defines us, it’s flexibility: we trust you to organize your time and space in the way that helps you do your best work.
Our Process:
- First Interview - Getting to Know You: A conversation with a future teammate who’s excited to find a new colleague. We’ll talk about your story, what drives you, and what you’re looking for next—no trick questions, just a genuine exchange.
- Second Interview - Deep Dive: You’ll meet the Hiring Manager and potentially another team member. This is a more technical discussion where we explore your skills in detail walk through real scenarios and answer any questions you might have about the role.
- Tech Assessment or Business Case: A practical exercise to see how you approach challenges similar to those you’ll tackle at Murphy. You’ll have time to reflect and showcase your thinking—no rush…
