About Murmuration
Murmuration is an ambitious fintech startup with a mission to transform how consumers access and engage with Credit Unions. We are entering an exciting growth phase, initially focused on building strategic partnerships with Credit Unions before launching directly to consumers at scale.
We're looking for an exceptional Marketing Manager who thrives in startup environments, enjoys building systems from the ground up, and wants to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of a high-growth business. This is not a role for someone who wants to manage agencies from a distance. We need a hands-on operator who is prepared to roll up their sleeves, execute quickly, solve problems independently, and build a modern marketing function from scratch.
The Role
This is a founding marketing hire and a rare dual-discipline role. In the near term, your focus will be B2B - building the pipeline of credit unions that adopt the Murmuration platform. As the network grows, your focus will evolve to include leading B2C member acquisition and growth campaigns on behalf of participating credit unions. Working directly with the CEO and Group Marketing Director, you will have the opportunity to build and shape the Murmuration marketing function from the ground up.
What You'll Do
- Phase 1 - B2B Credit Union Acquisition
- Develop and execute a go-to-market strategy to attract and onboard credit unions onto the Murmuration platform.
- Build and manage a B2B content programme - case studies, thought leadership, email campaigns, event presence - targeted at credit union decision-makers.
- Own the Murmuration website and brand presence, ensuring it speaks clearly to a credit union audience.
- Build relationships with ABCUL and relevant trade bodies to position Murmuration as a trusted partner to the sector.
- Create and manage sales enablement materials - decks, one-pagers, proposals - in close collaboration with the Founder and Group Marketing Director.
- Track and report on pipeline performance, channel effectiveness, and cost per onboarded credit union.
- Phase 2 - B2C Member Growth
- Lead B2C acquisition campaigns on behalf of participating credit unions, driving new member sign-ups and app adoption.
- Develop member-facing creative and messaging that reflects each credit union's identity while leveraging Murmuration's platform capabilities.
- Manage paid media campaigns (social, search, display) across multiple credit unions, optimising for cost per acquisition.
- Build lifecycle communications - onboarding, activation, engagement - to maximise member retention and product adoption.
- Establish reporting frameworks to measure B2C performance across the network and demonstrate ROI to credit union partners.
- Ongoing
- Own the Murmuration brand - tone of voice, visual guidelines, and how we show up across all channels.
- Identify and test new growth channels, partnerships, and marketing opportunities.
- Work with the product team to ensure member and credit union feedback informs platform development.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Proven experience in a B2B marketing role, ideally within fintech, financial services, or SaaS.
- Demonstrable success running demand generation or acquisition campaigns that moved commercial metrics.
- Strong written communication skills - comfortable writing for both a professional B2B audience and consumer campaigns.
- Experience managing paid media channels (Meta, Google, LinkedIn) with hands-on knowledge of campaign optimisation.
- Data-driven approach - comfortable setting KPIs, reading performance data, and iterating quickly.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple workstreams in an early-stage environment.
Desirable
- Knowledge of credit unions, banking, or broader financial inclusion sector.
- Familiarity with CRM and marketing automation platforms.
- Experience building a marketing function or working as an early marketing hire.
- Understanding of regulated financial services marketing requirements.
What We Offer
- A founding role with genuine influence over the direction of the business.
- Competitive salary with performance-related bonus.
- Hybrid working, based in our Manchester office.
- The opportunity to do meaningful work in financial inclusion and community finance.
