Working within the Stores Department and reporting in the first instance to the Materials Supervisor, this role encompasses a range of both system (Avante) based and practical tasks relating to the control of raw materials and assemblies from receipt through build and eventual dispatch.
Responsibilities:
- Packing of material to be forwarded to our sub-contractors
- Packing of finished products
- Preparing of pallets for shipment to our external customers
- Receive parcels
- Unload delivery vehicles
- Use of pump truck, pallet stacker equipment & forklift (training will be provided)
- Unpack, check & count material
- Book parts to stock using our manufacturing system
- Issue planned shortages
- Transfer goods into stock
- Re-locate items into storage locations
- Locate & replace reels in intelligent storage locations
- Picking of surface mount kits
- General picking as required
- Issue materials to our internal customers either by stores issue note or planned kitting lists
- Topping up of Kanban stock bins
- General housekeeping (rota system)
- Scanning of factory paperwork plus maintenance of archives
- Participation in daily cycle counting process
- Use of Avante manufacturing system
- Any other tasks which would reasonably be expected of a Stores Assistant
Education / Experience:
We are looking for a self-motivated and reliable individual who has proven experience within a warehouse environment. The ideal candidate will have a positive, can-do attitude and the ability to adapt to the ever-changing requirements of the role. The role would suit someone who is familiar with working in a warehouse / manufacturing environment, and who has a good level of physical fitness (as the role involves heavy lifting). The ideal candidate will be educated to a minimum of GCSE level, with good grades in Maths & English. Competency across Microsoft Office suite, in particular Outlook, Excel and Word would be beneficial, as well as general PC skills, such as scanning / creating pdf documents. Training on Avante manufacturing system will be given. Driving licence & car is desirable, as the role requires attendance at 2 sites (both within the Bordon area).
Physical Demands:
The role involves the following physical demands on a daily basis:
- Standing and/or walking for long periods of between 8 and 10 hours per shift
- Lifting and moving products up to 23kg in weight
- Lifting, bending, reaching above the head, kneeling, crouching, and/or stretching for 8 to 10 hours per shift
- Manual dexterity of both hands and wrists
- Regularly climbing and descending a flight of stairs safely
Hours of Work:
38 hours per week. Monday to Thursday 8:30am - 5:30pm (with 30 minutes lunch break) and Friday 8:30am - 12:30pm.
